Club History

The Battle of Britain Club was founded at its present site in the early 1950s.
It is made up of 2 nissen huts, which were transported from Scotland and stands on land owned by the Ministry of Defence for which the club pays an annual land rent. It is situated next to the R.A.F. base Uxbridge. When the huts were brought from Scotland they were re-constructed in their present format. At these premises we have both the R.A.F.A. Uxbridge branch and the Battle of Britain Club. The premises are run by 2 committees, one branch and one club and the committees have members who are both serving and ex serving members of the R.A.F.
The club enjoys a membership of approximately 1200 members. The veterans
with their children, grandchildren and in some cases great grandchildren which lets the younger people understand what the R.A.F.A is all about.
At present, the club enjoys various forms of entertainment, and is associated with the following clubs. Aircrew Association. Burma Star.
Hillingdon Blind Bowls Society, Model Aircraft Society.One afternoon a week there is indoor bowls for the full and partially sighted.The club has a large function room used for weddings, meetings, birthday parties and corporate functions. It is also available for hire at a reasonable rate. The club has a first class catering kitchen for all forms of catering. Food is served lunchtimes and evenings every day.With the club being in close proximity to R.A.F. Uxbridge it is ideally suited for visits to the Battle of Britain Museum at R.A.F. Uxbridge.Visits to the museum can be arranged through the R.A.F.A. club.
